Gordon McDermid is an investment banking professional with over 20 years of experience in capital markets operations and programme management.
Gordon began his career in 1990 in the derivative operations department at Bankers Trust. In 1997 he moved to Deutsche Bank where he spent 3 years running OTC Equity Derivative Settlements and delivering on high profile projects such as EMU and the Bankers Trust / DB integration. In 2000 Gordon moved to Credit Suisse First Boston, where as Head of OTC Operations Market Initiatives, he was responsible for implementing and evolving notable OTC Derivative programmes of work such as LCH Swapclear, Swapswire (MarketWire), DTCC services Deriv/SERV and TIW (Trade Information Warehouse) and TriOptima amongst others. In 2008 he joined VTB Capital as Head of Operational Change and was instrumental in implementing Calypso, the trading, risk and processing system across all 5 asset classes, front to back.
Most recently, Gordon spent 5 years at Sapient, the capital markets consultancy. As a Director in its Global Markets division, he held the position of Global Lead for the Clearing and Collateral Practice. During his time at Sapient, Gordon led a number of high-profile engagements for global investment banks, industry associations and central market infrastructure providers, with a specific focus on execution and post-trade services, regulatory response work programs and assisting clients to steer and manage large projects focusing on OTC clearing.
Over the course of his career, Gordon has been very active in a wide number of forums, working groups and steering committees relating to the derivatives industry, including ISDA and FpML.Org.
Gordon holds a BA Hons in Politics and History from Coventry University.
