Settlement houses in repo collateral deal - FT.com

I went looking for the source of this story on the FT below, as Philip doesn't really explain anything clearly and most of the article is background. Frustratingly there isn't a jot of information on the websites of Eurex, Clearstream or Euroclear (no capital C BTW). My interpretation is that Euroclear have linked to Eurex to allow their Repo business to settle using securities held in Euroclear, in addition to those in Clearstream, a win for both parties I suspect. If anyone has more information or a better explanation, let me know, Bill.

I've put most of the materials onto my download page, plus a link to the Euroclear page.

There's a new CCP service coming soon for European fixed income, based onshore in Europe. It doesn't have regulatory approval yet, once it does you'll hear from me, and from them.

It doesn't have much bearing on the OTC market but will be connected to the Euroclear highway.

Making maximum use of (domestic) collateral at Euroclear

You may have seen coverage on other sites which copied the Euroclear Press Release (link below), but they didn't really explain what the 'Collateral Highway' really is.

Under the current Euroclear model, securities at a domestic CSD are rooted into that domestic market, e.g. bonds held in Euroclear Sweden stay in Sweden to take part in Swedish transactions.

What Euroclear have done is propose to create a trans-national infrastructure which provides a new approach to the management of securities:
